Secondary School Counselling

YCT has been providing therapeutic work in secondary schools for many years. Our team of therapeutic staff have a great deal of experience of not only working in the school environment but also with the range and complexity of issues that surround young lives.

YCT only recruits staff who are fully trained and who are also accredited with their appropriate professional body – in most cases this will be the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). This ensures that all of the schools we work with can be confident about the quality of the work we undertake with their young people. Many agencies offer services that are delivered by unqualified staff, but at YCT our main emphasis is on quality – as a charity our founding ethos was to support and serve our communities and the young people who come to us for support, it is essential that only the best quality service is provided. That founding ethos is still central to the way that YCT operates and by providing the best trained and experienced staff we are confident in the high standard of interventions that we provide.

YCT offers secondary schools:

  • An efficient and flexible therapeutic counselling service

  • Drama and music therapy

  • Issue specific groups or more general therapeutic group work looking at issues of concern to your school and young people

  • YCT’s wide experience of a range of presenting issues

  • Staff counselling

  • Staff training

YCT does not offer a fixed model service but rather aims to work alongside schools to tailor a bespoke service to their needs and what they can afford. This could be all of the above services or simply a straightforward counselling service – we work with your priorities!

We like to develop relationships with the schools we work in as we have seen how this benefits both the school and the young people. YCT staff spend time getting to know the school and how it works, we are then able to make a real and significant contribution to the school’s emotional health and wellbeing. Does this sound like the kind of therapeutic service that you would like at your school?
